altE
The altE store is our favorite brick & mortar and online retailer for everything for renewable energy. They carry small wind turbines, solar panels of all types and sizes, batteries as well as all the stuff needed to hook it up together. They also offer a ton of very useful courses to learn how to do renewable. Since altE is located in Massachusetts we can consider it local, though we do need to get out to visit some day soon.
Energy Federation
For example, when looking at some of their CFL offerings, they provide information about not just the wattage, but also the lumens (brightness), Color Rendering Index (CRI) - quality of light, and the Temperature/Color of the light. They also provide details about packaging for the various bulbs and other supplies and whether they are in the less environmentally friendly plastic clam shell cases or recyclable cardboard. Be sure to check out their Sustainability Information that provides details on their philosophy on packaging, shipping and disposal of products.
EFI also has great customer service and on the occasion we needed to return some CFLs (we ordered the wrong size) the process was easy and painless.

Kelley's Closet is our favorite online retailer for everything cloth diapers. They have specials all the time and a huge selection of cloth diapers and accessories, not to mention a wealth of information and help for parents thinking about cloth diapers.Amazon
